Joanna Wolfe, owner and principal cake designer, has been making wedding and specialty cakes for family and friends for nearly 30 years. After 20 years working in Information Technology she left her position managing the Oxford University Press website to pursue a full-time career in cake design.

“At my niece’s wedding when I was setting up their cakes, the caterer, florist, photographer and people who were just touring the reception location all asked me for my card. It was at that point that I thought that perhaps I was meant to do this full time.”

Joanna's professional training and development includes coursework in master classes in Cake Decorating, including specialty courses in Gum Paste, Fondant, Pulled Sugar and Cakes for Catering at the Wilton School in Illinois and Classic Cake coursework at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York.  Joanna has won several ribbons at the NC State Fair, including a blue ribbon for her Angel Food Cake.

While Good Taste Cake Designs focuses on meeting the individual needs and tastes of it's customers. Good Taste Cake Designs a member of Triangle Bridal Association, ICES (International Cake Exploration Society), ISES (International Special Events Society), and NACE (National Associations for Catering Executives).

“I believe that there are customers whose needs not being served, particularly in certain areas of the Triangle. I also see a need to address food allergies and special diet needs. I’m happy to provide cakes for standard orders. However, I also want to make sure that if you have a special need or requirement there is an easy and painless way for you to get what you want.”

Joanna believes strongly in our responsibility to our community. She regularly donates baked goods and other kitchen services to any number of charitable organizations. She is president of Triangle Greyhound Society, a local Greyhound Adoption group dedicated to the welfare and betterment of retired racing greyhounds. However, be careful about asking her about greyhounds or you may find yourself adopting one.
